Standard 1: Facilitating a Vision of Learning:

v     A competent school administrator is an educational leader who promotes the success of all students by facilitating the development, articulation, implementation, and stewardship of a vision of learning that is shared and supported by the school community.

The vision statement of a school should reflect the wants and needs of the community that the school can help fulfill.  Vision is not something that can be accomplished through the eyes of only the administrator, but must be seen through the eyes of the faculty, staff, students, and community.  To this end, the vision statement should be created with the help of those groups.

As a successful school administrator, I plan to help create a vision statement for the school with the help of students, staff, parents, and the community.  The vision statements should be easily remembered so everyone can keep it in their minds while working within the school.  The vision statement should also be examined to make sure that the want and needs of the parents, staff, students, and community are being met.  As a successful administrator, it will be imperative to change the vision when the community’s needs are no longer being met.
